Use figtext instead. I did the following and it looked fine to me:
plt.figure()
plt.figtext(0.1, 0.5,
r'$F(x)=p*\frac{1}{s1\sqrt{2\pi}}*e^{-\frac{1}{2}*(\frac{x-m}{s1})}+(1-p)*\frac{1}{s1\sqrt{2\pi}}*e^{-\frac{1}{2}*(\frac{x-m}{s1})}$',
fontsize=20)
plt.show()
