I slightly modified the example show at
http://www.scipy.org/Cookbook/Matplotlib/ScrollingPlot to plot image data.
My version of the code is at:

What is the correct way to add a colorbar to this plot? A simple
plt.colorbar(axes) yields no colorbar drawn.
