Please kindly let me know if the load flow solution from MATPOWER can be compared and checked with the power flow solution from UWPLOW software? When I tried this, the load flow solutions are coming out to be different. Would it be possible to give reasons for this?

I am not familiar with UWPLOW, but models and algorithms employed by MATPOWER are very standard and should give exactly the same solutions as other software. I suspect the most likely cause of differences in solution is user errors in preparing the input data files, particularly when the programs being compared use different formats.

And, I see that in MATPOWER, different bustypes has been mentioned but not used during the programming. Why is it not used during the programming?

I'm not sure why you think they are not used in the programming. They most certainly are ... try changing which bus is the reference bus (slack/swing bus) and you will see the solution change.
