I would suggest trying an Implicit Z-bus Gauss method, described briefly in section 8.1.2 in my PhD dissertation http://www.pserc.cornell.edu/ray/pubs/PhDThesis.pdf

If we have some lines in an interconnected power system with low X/R ratio, we may have some problem with coverage through Newton-Raphson method. How can we solve such power flow problem as we can not use forward-backward method like distribution radial system?

Due to low X/R ratio of the distribution network, the load flow methods based on Gauss Siedel and Newton Raphson may not always converges. For a radial system with only one voltage controlled bus (which is the source substation), many simple algorithms exist in literature which are not difficult to code.

Sir,i m final year EE student doing project on capacitor placement on radial distribution system. i m tying to run load flow on matpower on default newton PF. I took data from Baran n wu reconfiguration 32 us data ......there is problem while running the load flow as data priscibe as in case9 is not same what i put for 32bus data....as what i take bus one as slake bus remaining PQ bus .....the runpf is having error because there is no generator data in what i enter there is only BUS AND LINE data....so please sir help to this problem.
