I'm afraid I don't have the time to investigate your problem and suggest other 
ideas. However, based on the white-board sketch in your document, it should be 
straightforward to write a function that takes a bus matrix, a branch matrix 
and the parameters of the HFC and returns new bus and branch matrices with the 
additional bus and two additional branches representing what is shown in your 
diagram.
