You can call makeYbus directly as follows ...

mpc = loadcase('case9');
[Ybus, Yf, Yt] = makeYbus(mpc);

If you need access to other variables, you can always set a breakpoint in the 
Matlab debugger, then use Matlab's 'save' command to save the values of the 
variables of interest into a .mat file that can be loaded and used in your own 
code.
