I am using matpower 4.1 and knitro 9.1.0. And also all tests are successful when I type test_matpower. Why should there be a problem with older matpower versions? Regards,Angelina

Are you using the current versions of both MATPOWER (5.1) and Knitro (9.1.0)? (type mpver to see what versions you have installed) And does it pass all of the tests? (type test_matpower).
