Hefty hardware as in at least 4 cores and n+1 * 512MB of RAM and some decently fast drives for bare minimum. No one's run in this configuration before that we know of so it's going to be very experimental, you'll likely want lots of headroom. I refer to a copy of Matterhorn as an instance. So effectively you'd need two copies of it running simultaneously. Doing this in a VM is probably easiest to setup, but it's going to be a pain to pass the hardware through and performance will suffer. Installing two copies on the same machine without a VM is something you'd have to do somewhat manually since the install scripts aren't designed with that in mind. Not that it won't work, but I have no idea what might happen!
