This sounds like your browser is attempting to play the files using whatever plugins you have installed. It should be able to play it, but perhaps you don't have the appropriate codecs installed. Obviously there's something wrong with your core. Are there errors in the logs? Have you tried restarting (this sounds lame, but it does fix things sometimes...). G
