Dear Opencast Community and Matterhorn users,

I'm pleased to announce the launch of a freshly re-designed Opencast Community website, and a brand new sister site dedicated to Opencast Matterhorn. You can visit these sites at http://opencast.org and http://opencast.org/matterhorn (note the shortened domain name!)

The goals behind the redesign and decision to split www.opencastproject.org into 2 sites were:

1) To make it easier for potential adopters to find information about Matterhorn and to get their questions answered

2) To improve the usefulness of the Community site as a space for:
- Providing guidance, direction and inspiration for getting involved in the community as an adopter or contributor - Providing opportunities for sharing stories of adoption, integration, successes, resources and events - Promoting any projects supported by the Opencast community (currently, Matterhorn is the only active project)

We hope you'll find the Community site a useful hub for exchanging resources and insights with the community, and that the Matterhorn site provides an engaging experience fpr potential adopters seeking information about Matterhorn.

If you previously had an account on www.opencastproject.org, your account may have been imported into the new site (if your account was associated with any migrated content), but you will need to reset your password. If you aren't sure, you might want to try the reset password function first (http://opencast.org/user/password) before creating a new account. Please let me know if you have any issues with this.

I want to thank my fabulous team of website reviewers, who put a lot of time and energy poring over these sites and making improvements. There are several more great ideas that came from this group, and I hope we'll be able to incorporate these into the site(s) over the next several months. Thanks goes to Hal Meeks, Andy Wasklewicz, Tobias Wunden, Brian O'Hagan, Kristoff Keppens, Adam Hochman, Judy Stern, Chris Brooks and Olaf Schulte. And thank you to Domenique Sillett of www.littleigoo.com for the visual design for the Matterhorn site.

As always, feedback or suggestions are welcome and encouraged. Please feel free to also contact me directly at [email protected].

Enjoy!

Michelle
