We've got a different environment but the same symptom, our details might
be useful.

RHEL, kernel 2.6.18-238.19.1.el5.x86_64
java version "1.6.0_26"
Matterhorn version 1.1.x from about a month ago with some updates since
then.

In our case there is a clear error: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap
space.
We currently have 2048m configured for our java heap space, increasing or
decreasing that limit lengthens or shortens the time the server can run
without crashing. With 2048m it can last about 36 hours before a crash.

My workaround has been a nightly restart of matterhorn on admin. I don't
like that solution but it is the best option available for me right now.
