I'll just echo that I had the same error, it was fixed by turning the
settings down and unplugging inputs into the device. I was able to then
upgrade the firmware from my macbook pro running snow leopard in chrome.
I was going from 2.2.0e (shipped) to the downloaded 2.2.0e (that is
supposed to be different, according another thread).

Thanks. I fiddled with that stuff. I tried it from a linux box and
the upgrade worked fine. It didn't work from my IMac. Go figure.

I've tried to upgrade the firmware on our matterhorn capture appliance
several times and each time it offers this up:
Internal Server Error
Easy fix: Turn down your encoding settings (bitrates, capture sizes).
The device has limited internal memory and turning down those settings
frees up the memory. Rebooting can also help as well.
I contacted epiphan directly and got the usual disclaimer from them
saying that this device is supported by the matterhorn project. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.
That's nasty considering it's kinda their bug :)
