This is more or less exactly what's happening. And I have no idea why, the process just disappears without leaving any trace as to why it's down. If you suspect that your ECD is in that state the best bet is to reboot the device which will resurrect the process. Upcoming firmware contains a replacement for that script which uses much less memory and does not randomly disappear.
