Hi Greg,

Thank you for putting up the documentation; I just worked through it.

Here are some notes on the process of manually using the REST endpoints for ingest, as derived by your documentation of the capture agent's communication protocols:

createMediaPackage:
------------------
the mediapackage created does *not* contain the declaration of the namespace
ns2, "xmlns:ns2="http://mediapackage.opencastproject.org"; " is missing, which leads to an Internal Server Error, if I try to use this mediapackage as is for addDCCatalog.

It is easy to work around this though, by simply deleting the "ns2"-Tags in the mediapackage; on the next step they will be re-added correctly.

-> this needs a fix on serverside, right?

addDCCatalog:
------------
added episode.xml and series.xml

everything worked smoothly

addAttachment:
-------------
I tried to add org.opencastproject.capture.agent.properties, but didn't find out what flavor to give it, and where to get the xml-representation of that file, to make this call complete sucessfully.

-> so some info regarding that would be helpful on the doc page

addTrack:
--------
I uploaded 2 mp4-videos, one as source/presenter, one as source/presentation, with the URL-method, and it worked fine.

The doc is OK; but in the REST-interface, it says "the ID of the mediapackage" rather than the full xml-mediapackage is required, which is not true (fails with 500).

Regards, Andreas

I don't have a link to this unfortunately, but your email reminded me to
create some much needed documentation around this issue. I have updated
http://opencast.jira.com/wiki/display/MH/Capture+Agent+Communication+Protocols
to include both zip- and non zip-based ingest methods. Take a look, and
please let me know if you find any inconsistencies or have any questions.
