The University of Osnabrück and the ELAN e.V. are proud to announce a
new Tool for Matterhorn:
TheRec Matterhorn Edition
Some years ago Waldemar Smirnow created a multi-stream recording tool
for Windows. We finally found some time now to update this tool and
improve how it can work together with Matterhorn.
This new version of TheRec can record as many simultanous av-streams as
your pc is capable of from all uncompressed DirectShow devices that you
have installed to your system. You can configure which devices should be
used and add a Matterhorn flavour to them. You can select a series inbox
from MHRI (Matterhorn Remote Inbox [1]) and add some Dublin Core
Metadata to your recording.
By the dependency on DirectShow devices we can support a wide variety of
capture devices on windows from USB-webcams, DV-cameras, hardware
VGA-grabbers (such as the Epiphan VGA2USB devices) and even software
VGA-grabbers [3].
TheRec is currently intended for manual recordings and does not provide
scheduled recordings yet.
You will need Windows 7, Dual Core processor with at least 2Ghz, 2GB
RAM, 5 MB HDD for the Software, approx. 8 GB/h HDD of multistream
recordings. A webcam or a DV-camera are recommend.
TheRec is free software licensed under the LGPL 3 license. It was
written by Waldemar Smirnow from the Osnabrück Matterhorn team.
Feel free to test and use the software!

is a free DirectShow driver for software based vga-grabbing. It was not
100% reliable in our tests, but at least it is free...
