I've been getting errors left and right on QA and our local environments.
-demo capture errors on distributed QA
-service registry providing wrong url for ingest on distributed QA,
causing 500 error on capture ingest
-3rd party install issues on all in one osx
-media inspection failure on all ingested files on our local distributed
dev env.
Because we're getting so much inconsistency in a variety of
environments, I suggest that anyone who can install from a clean
environment try to run through a basic scheduled capture and report back
to list tomorrow. I will clean out QA and our local env and start over
to try to reproduce these issues consistently. Once we we know with
certainty that these issues aren't caused by "cruft" from formal builds,
data, or tools and can be reproduced on a variety of deployments we can
address them and cut an RC. Until then, the system is too unstable to
consider running through UI tests.
There are also outstanding issues such as the memory leak issue Tobias
encountered when ingesting a large amount of media packages, and the
text analysis issue. Regarding the latter, Tobias had to adjust the
ffmpeg to pull from iframes rather than specific points in time. In the
past this has cause grey slides, so please try to test this locally with
both capture and uploaded media.
Tomorrow's meeting will primarily focus on these issues.
