Hi Steven,
We actually included an option in 1.0 that is still present in 1.1 that will
let you use FLAC. The only downside to it is that you will have to use the
default settings for FLAC in the underlying gstreamer libraries. The custom
solution Chris is talking about will allow you to configure these settings. To
use FLAC you need to add a line in the file:
$FELIX_HOME$/conf/services/org.opencastproject.capture.impl.ConfigurationManager.properties
Near the bottom of this file all of the capture devices are setup. You will
want to add:
capture.device.$FRIENDLY_NAME$.codec=flacenc
where $FRIENDLY_NAME$ is the name you gave your audio capture card in the
install process for example my audio capture is named mic and it looks like:
capture.device.haup.src=/dev/video1
capture.device.haup.codec=x264enc
capture.device.haup.bitrate=2048
capture.device.haup.container=mp4mux
capture.device.haup.outputfile=haup.mp4
capture.device.haup.flavor=presenter/source
capture.device.haup.buffer.bytes=536870912
capture.device.vga2.src=/dev/video2
capture.device.vga2.codec=x264enc
capture.device.vga2.codec.container=mp4mux
capture.device.vga2.condec.bitrate=2048
capture.device.vga2.outputfile=vga.mp4
capture.device.vga2.flavor=presentation/source
capture.device.vga2.buffer.bytes=536870912
capture.device.mic.src=hw:0
capture.device.mic.type=PULSESRC
capture.device.mic.outputfile=mic.mp2
capture.device.mic.flavor=presenter/source
capture.device.mic.buffer.bytes=536870912
capture.device.names=haup,vga2,mic
capture.device.mic.codec=flacenc
With the actual flacenc right there at the bottom.
