Over the next couple of months, UC Berkeley will be integrating distribution services more fully into the Matterhorn administrative tools. While doing the analysis for the new features, we've identified several issues with our current APIs that impede our ability to manage distribution to multiple channels successfully.
The scope of the changes needed to truly implement distribution are somewhat broad, and though we very much want this work to go into the trunk, we recognize that there may be concerns with the approach. We are therefore sending a proposal [1] to gather feedback, create consensus, and in general do whatever it takes to both deliver the feature set we need this summer while avoiding any code forking.
