Last night I added a larger patch to metadata handling provided by Christoph Drießen to trunk and I would like to take that opportunity for a short introduction of Christoph, as you are likely to meet him on IRC and see patches (and hopefully commits, too) from him in the foreseeable future.
Christoph is already known to those of you who attended the Zurich Opencast meeting in September 2009. He took over ownership and ongoing development of Replay, the system that ETH Zurich is running in production up until today for their lecture capture program and that was used as a basis for many of today's Matterhorn service implementations. Starting May 1st, Christoph is working for Entwine with his first project being ETH's migration to Matterhorn in the near future. As he already knows central pieces of Matterhorn from his work on Replay, he'll be familiar with the overall Matterhorn codebase soon, as well as with the development practices and the specifics of our community. Amongst other things, Christoph has lots of expertise in software architecture and anything metadata, so feel free to ask any questions when you see him on irc. I am looking forward to welcoming a very capable developer on the project, and hope that he enjoys working with us as much as we enjoyed working together over the last few years. With a little help from everybody, I'm sure he'll feel at home in our community, soon!
