CAS by itself, at least at UCB, tells you the user ID, and that's it.  That's 
why you need a UserDirectory provider, to look up the roles for the user.  
Since you're using LDAP, it's possibly the case that you don't have the right 
roles, but you would also likely be denied access to /admin/* URLs as well.

What does /workflow/instances.json give you?  If it's an empty list, then you 
should take a look at the ACLs associated with your series.
