I am not sure what is wrong right now. We have always had discussions on this
list (which is a good thing!) and all of us, including "great developers", have
taken numerous hits and defeats when trying to sell ideas or concepts to
others. I would very much hope that it has nothing do with who is proposing
something but with what has been proposed and maybe in which way (complaints
vs. constructive criticism).

Nobody in this community will be opposed to your suggestions just because they
are coming from your e-mail address, and nobody will accept mine just because I
sent them. I am happy to give you plenty of examples if you don't believe me. A
look at may now gray hair may convince you as well :-)

As long as you keep up a good communication style, you should keep fighting for
your ideas and argue in favor of them. And if, at some point, you see that
other's think differently and you can't convince them, you either need to
question your own arguments or go ahead, create a branch and bring your ideas
to life.

If you are - like in this case - questioning one of the central concepts that
people have been working and thinking in for years, you need to be prepared to
face counter arguments. Pointing to a conversation where I am having an easy
time selling the need for an obviously missing piece in the architecture is
comparing apples and oranges.

Regards,
Tobias
