Rubén Pérez Vázquez commented on MH-8058:
-----------------------------------------
Not sure if this is totally related...
The way the epiphan drivers are loaded is rather... custom. The normal
proceeding should be copying the compiled .ko file to somewhere under
/lib/modules/<kernel_version>/kernel/drivers and including a file with the
module load options to /etc/modprobe.d . It's fairly simple, avoids loading the
module explicitly in the init scripts and, as it uses OS standard locations,
makes less likely the user can do something that breaks things.
We have done a couple tests here and it works, but since it does not add nor
improve so much the existing funcionality, we did not bring it up. We could
incorporate it to the standard installation scripts, but this may be considered
a "new feature" and perhaps it is not the right time. What do you think?
