Hi list,
it seems to me that it is currently not really visible who's currently
working on the project and with which focus. I would really appreciate
to get and update from the rest of the group. We skipped the weekly
standups in the developer meeting and so I really lost track. I will
start with a summary from the Osnabrueck Team and I would hope that
others will join in:
Markus Moormann:
- Admin UI improvements and bug fixes.
- QA 1.3
Denis Meyer:
- QA of 1.3
- Will create a Ubuntu compatible Repository for Matterhorn 1.3
- Update engage player for 1.4 with latest jQuery UI version
- HTML5 for the engage player for 1.4
Waldemar Smirnov:
- currently Live Streaming for the Capture Agent (implementation and
documentation). The audio streaming was finished after the 1.3 deadline,
but we are using it for over a month now, so I consider to add this to
1.3 too as probably no one except us QAed the live-streaming. Any
objections?
For Waldemars future development we are considering two project that we
were unable to prioritize yet. If someone is working on one of these
things please speak up:
1. Multi-Room-Capture-Agent: read the schedules from many different
capture agents and record the RTP-stream from a network camera in these
different rooms. We consider this as an backup solution additional to
the capture agent in the lecture room. If the main system fails the
central system will have a backup.
2. Finish the gstreamer composer service: I'm not sure about the current
state of the gstreamer composer service that is in the SVN for a while
now. But Waldemar has the gstreamer knowledge to build a service with at
least the functionality of the ffmpeg version. After this we can think
about improvements like a virtual cutting function etc. that would be
hard to realize with the ffmpeg approach.
Martin Abel:
- Is currently working on a user-comment / annotation feature for 1.4.
We are aware that this feature may be a little problematic from the UX
perspective. So we will have user studies for this in December/January.
Leonid Oldenburger:
- Created with some fellow students the Matterhorn2Go app. We are
currently QAing this app and will place it in the Android Market and the
iPhone App-Store (so Apple will) within this year. The app will give the
possibility to select the University from a drop-down menu. We will set
up a directory service for this. Institutions who would like to be
listed there can contact us.
- He will add a video zoom function to the engage player in 1.4.
Benjamin Wulff:
- Is currently focusing on Open Track. An open source system for
automated camera control in the lecture room.
- When he reached the milestone for OpenTrack he can focus more on
Matterhorn and would like to work more on core components than on the UIs.
- For Matterhorn he will add an HTML5 compatible large file uploader (>
2GB) for the 1.4 release (as far as we know currently only Firefox
supports this).
Lars Kiesow:
- Will create a CentOS compatible Repository for Matterhorn 1.3
- Will add the feature to add captions to already distributed media for 1.4
Rüdiger Rolf:
- I'm currently QAing 1.3
- Together with Greg Logan I took the responsibility for the release
management for 1.3.
- For 1.4 I will try to contribute a feature to add front- and
end-credits to a video.
If you noticed that there is an overlap from one of us with your current
project, please speak up, so that we can reconsider what we are working on!
Thanks
Rüdiger
