Opencast is thrilled to be a part of the 2012 Google Summer of Code (GSoC) program! Three students have now been awarded GSoC projects in coordination with Opencast Matterhorn, beating out strong competition from a total of thirty proposals:
-- Zheng Fan, third year computer science undergraduate student, National University of Singapore. Zheng will be looking into creation of a Matterhorn Market Place, under the mentorship of Matterhorn committer Ruediger Rolff (Universität Osnabrück). -- Alexandru Lucian Ginsca, second year masters student in Computational Linguistics, University of Iasi, Romania. Alexandru will be working on Semantic Topic Detection, under the mentorship of Matterhorn committer Tobias Wunden (Entwine), Greg Logan (University of Saskatchewan), and Christopher Brooks (University of Saskatchewan). -- G. Scott Johnston, second year masters student in Computer Science, University of Saskatchewan, Canada. Scott will be building a Student Statistics Viewer, under the mentorship of Matterhorn committer Christopher Brooks (University of Saskatchewan). On behalf of the Opencast board of directors and Matterhorn committer body, we’d like to congratulate Zheng, Alexandru, and Scott as we look forward to an exciting and challenging summer of code!
