Dear All

May 2nd saw a board meeting discussing the following issues:

Unconference, early June in Boston
With registration opened, we're hoping to see attendants registering as well as
proposing sessions for the meeting. Attendance as well as contributions to the
program will influence what the focus of this meeting will be, but that's the
idea behind an unconference. The board will review participation in both
respects and communicate accordingly.
The unconference also provides commercial vendors with an opportunity to
showcase their capture solutions; parties interested should contact a member of
the board.
Options of videoconferencing and/or live streaming are being considered. If you
are interested in these, please come forward so we can discuss details.
The location has been changed to CGIS at http://g.co/maps/kctqw - even more of
an incentive to come to this meeting.

Jasig-Sakai Preconference Workshop, June, Atlanta
There will be a preconference workshop June 10th to introduce participants to
Opencast Matterhorn; in addition, there will be session on adopting Matterhorn
for your institution. Plus, UCB will organize recordings of a number of
conference tracks with Opencast Matterhorn. Three good reasons to join us in
Atlanta.

Commercial relationships
The board discussed the current situation with respect to commercial
affiliations and sponsorship and identified the need to structure these to
provide more guidance and clarity for all parties involved.

Finally, UCB will provide some legal vetting with respect to the integration of
FFmpeg with (possibly) patent-encumbered encoders.

See you in Boston & Atlanta!

The Opencast Board
