David Horwitz commented on MH-8316:
-----------------------------------

By default the LTI launcher doesn't particularly tryst that the suplied
credentials match institutional roles and users. Remember the LTI consumer
could be a student project or a system on another campus.

So it namespaces the supplied id as follows:

LTI:[consumer name]:[users internal id on consumer system]

It will ask the user directory service if it knows of this user - if not found
it creates an on the fly user with that id. Trusting a key allows one to use
the supplied human readable id (twunden rather than a guid) and that will be
trusted to match a know user.

> LTI should support Trusted source on a per Tenant Basis

> The current LTI implementation assumes that the LTI supplied user is likely
> not related to a user Matterhorn knows about. Some use cases require that a
> tighter integration is required - that some producers could trust some
> consumers to be passing authoritative user information that can be trusted to
> be canonical and enriched by other Matterhorn held data.
> Note that one tenant wishing to trust a consumer in this way should not force
> other tenants on the same host to trust them
