Hi all,

It seems that if you specify:

capture.cleaner.maxarchivaldays=7

(for example), the cleaner job (on the CA) still won't delete jobs
older than 7 days if there is free disk space available (as determined
by capture.cleaner.mindiskspace).

To my mind this is not very helpful. Surely it should always delete
jobs older than 7 days, and if there's insufficient disk space, then
delete jobs from oldest to newest until there's enough free space?

It's not just a disk space issue - the CA for some reason sends status
updates every 10s for every capture on the CA cache (with state
upload_finished), which together adds up to a significant amount of http
traffic to the core when you have a non-trivial number of capture
agents.

This is one of several areas where it doesn't seem possible to just let
Matterhorn run by itself, with lots of external cleanup and maintenance
scripts required outside matterhorn.

Regards
Stephen
