Dear All

ELAN e.V. together with Osnabruck University and ETH Zurich would like to
announce they are working on an enhanced version of the Opencast Matterhorn
trimming feature, making it an richer editing tool for video processed with
Matterhorn.

The project tackles a number of deficiencies of the current trimming feature:

- Increased accuracy of editing
- Arbitrary editing (over in/out only)
- Zero-crossing editing / cross-fading: Suppress static noise as a result of
editing
- More control: Pre-/postroll preview

The project sees Markus Moormann and Waldemar Smirnow working on a solution
satisfying needs both at UOS and ETH Zurich. Details can be seen at
http://opencast.jira.com/browse/MH-8100. Work is to yield first results in
September 2012, with the final code probably being submitted by the end of the
year.

Feedback and questions are welcome.

Regards

RĂ¼diger, Olaf A.
