I didn't have a proposal per se, more of a suggestion for whatever format is chosen. :) Using versions lets you do API baseline type stuff against config files. The versions don't need to match anything external -they're for tracking changes to the schema itself- and further, only useful if stuff is modularized and those module configs potentially mixed, I reckon. JBoss does this for its configs, as they have a grip of them, and they mix and match, and they don't all change their schema at once. I don't know if we need to go that far. Maybe it would be useless information, but it wouldn't hurt anything that I can think of, and would allow that flexibility later on if needed.
