This may actually be a different bug than MH-8892. If I understand Jonathan
correctly, *this* bug is about scheduling a group of recordings that are *all*
actually in the future. (Jonathan did not select Friday as one of the days of
the week, so no invalid dates would be generated by his selections.) The proper
behavior is to simply schedule what is requested.
On the other hand, if the user's selections would result in recordings
scheduled in the past, an error message is appropriate:
The behavior that is consistent with the way the UI is working currently (as
Ruben pointed out) is to show an error message (at the top of the screen when
submit button is clicked) telling them what data was invalid; invalid fields
should be highlighted in red. (This case is complex in that it's actually the
combo of start date, days of the week, and start time that result in invalid
recordings scheduled, but I think it's acceptable to just highlight the start
date.)
The alternative behavior, to go ahead and schedule only the ones in the future
and simply report on the confirmation screen what dates were not scheduled
because they were in the past, would probably preferred by users (in most
cases), but it doesn't have a precedent in the UI, so I think we ought NOT do
it this way (even though it's what I said we should do in the meeting this
morning).
