Is the zip file greater than 2GB? That may be another issue entirely.
Putting the workspace in memory will speed up processing, but will require very
very large amounts of RAM. Unzipping, especially in situations where there is
a proxy between the CA and the core, has been known to fail due to timeouts so
you might be on to something. If this is occurring frequently for you I would
figure out how to add extra time to the ingest operation (which lives at
http://opencast.jira.com/source/browse/MH/trunk/modules/matterhorn-capture-agent-impl/src/main/java/org/opencastproject/capture/impl/CaptureAgentImpl.java?hb=true#to803
currently), then investigate moving the workspace to memory.
