The Matterhorn community is grateful for the recording services provided by
TelTek and NCast for our last two unconferences.
As we continue this tradition (with the upcoming conference in San Diego as
well as future events), the conference committee has recognized a need to
ensure a fair process for selecting the provider for each conference, as well
as welcoming additional vendors to provide their services. The Unconference
Planning Committee has decided that a fair model is to maintain a "queue" of
interested vendors willing to provide this service, which will be managed in
the following way:
Vendors will be added to the queue in the order in which they contact us to let
us know they would like to be included. ("first come first serve")
We will rotate through the queue for each event, contacting the next vendor on
the list with the fewest number of Opencast events recorded to see if they
would like to provide the service for the upcoming conference.
If a vendor that we contact does not want to provide the service for the
upcoming event, we will move on to the next vendor in the queue.
A vendor that has turned down the opportunity to provide the service will be
the first one asked for the subsequent event.
Once we have made our way thru the list, we will start again at the top of the
list.
The expectation is that:
a) all recordings will be hosted on a Matterhorn server and distributed on a
Matterhorn distribution channel,
b) recordings will be provided by the vendor in a way that makes it possible to
showcase the core functionality of the Matterhorn Engage UI (i.e. separate
presenter & slide video must be available to the Matterhorn processing engine
as to allow for media analysis, indexation, and delivery of user-controllable
two-screen video), and
c) vendors will work with the conference committee to have recordings properly
ingested.

If you would like to be added to the queue of Matterhorn Event Recording
Providers (which already includes TelTek and NCast), please send email to Judy
Stern, [email protected]. The vendor who contacts us first will be asked to
provide recording services for our upcoming unconference in at UCSD (in San
Diego, CA, Jan 30th- Feb1st, 2013).

p.s. To all capture agent vendors: Note that the planning committee is
discussing another Capture Agent Showcase for the UCSD unconference. This was a
very informative and well-received event at the Harvard unconference, so we
hope to achieve the same level of participation from our capture agent partners
for the UCSD unconference. Please mark your calendars and keep an eye out for
details about participating in this session.
