If you know of a high school student (13-17) who is interested in
getting involved in MH (doesn't have to be coding!) let me know, there
is a separate contest like GSoC for them.

Grand prize is a trip to Google, other prizes are things like
T-shirts/etc.

Mentors] [Annoucement] Org Apps for Google Code-in 2012 are now open

Hi GSoC Mentors and Org Admins,

We are now accepting applications from organizations who have
participated in a previous Google Summer of Code (you!) to get involved
with our contest for 13-17 year olds, Google Code-in [0] (GCI).

If you aren’t familiar with GCI, you can check out our announcement [1]
to this list from September, our ‘Things to consider’ post from last
week [2] and read our blog post [3] about the contest.

If your org has decided it would like to apply to participate in the
contest, you can go ahead and fill out the application [4] on Melange
now. The deadline for applications is *November 5, 2012 at 23:00 UTC.*

Please read over the rules for participating as an organization in GCI
before applying, they can be found on the organization application [4]
itself. The person filling out the org app must already be registered in
Melange from a prior instance of Google Code-in or Google Summer of
Code in order to access the program application for GCI 2012.

You will also want to read the Information Page [5] for GCI org admins
and mentors to make sure your org has the time and capacity to
participate this year. We have made some significant changes to the
contest this year, please make sure you are familiar with them.

This year we are excited to have the participating organizations choose
their top 2 contributors so every org will have 2 students represented
on the Grand Prize Trip.

We value your org’s past service to Google Summer of Code, and hope your
org will consider participating in Google Code-in and introducing
teenagers to your community.

If you have any questions please contact this list or you can contact me
directly at [email protected].
