Hi John,
Sorry in the chaos of final exams I missed your original post. We've
been working on extending the LTI work originally done by Josh. 1.4 will
include the first version of this that allows the display of a "series"
(really a search result) or individual video via LTI. In the UCT msub
there is a more evolved version that links to an actual series by id (or
search result), UI enhancements and allows for management of recordings.
We plan to contribute this to 1.5
There are a couple of caveats/limitations LTI to be aware of:
- Setting up LTI tools is not particularly friendly and requires a fair
bit of user knowledge (We get around this with an automated workflow
from our incident management system)
- IN basic mode LTI users are in memory users so in order to use
advanced features like scheduling you have to run LTI in highly trusted
mode and have your Matterhorn intergrated with a user source.
Regards
D

Hi John,
there is an LTI provider for a single video and a list of videos, as well as a
page on the Opencast Wiki detailing how to use it [1]. We have recently
installed the tools in a Moodle instance, so they are known to be working.
In principle, what you need to do is go to etc/security/mh_default_org.xml and find the oauth token
and secret and use those when you set up the tools inside the LMS. The base URL is your Matterhorn
installation, and the tool url is ltitools/episode/index.html or ltitools/episode/index.html,
respectively. The series tool takes a "series" parameter with the series id, while the
player tool uses the "id" parameter pointing at the correct mediapacakge id.
By the way, it seems to me that the wiki page titled "LTI basics" is really
just that: the basics :-) So if you happen to be able to take screenshots or add some
comments and further explanations, that is highly appreciated!

Hi Folks,
We at UC Berkeley would like to make the Matterhorn Media Module into an LTI
provider so that we can (easily?) integrate it with our new Learning Management
System.
Poking around in the code base, I see there is an example implementation and
some documentation but I am hoping someone has actually implemented that using
one or more of the fully functional matterhorn modules, hopefully MMM of course.
My research indicates that, at a minimum, we will need to turn OAuth on.
Enabling OAuth does seem well documented in the security configuration file but
hearing about any gotchas or additional configuration necessary in this area
would be most welcome.
I have been told that David Horowitz has done that for at least one module so
we would be particularly interested in hearing from him. A pointer to code that
does this would be ideal.
Any other pointers or sharing of experience about implementing LTI would also
be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any input on this subject.
