Did You Know: Preemption While it may be critical that some jobs submitted obtain resources immediately, other jobs are less time sensitive but consume large amounts of compute resources. Moab has the ability to run low-priority, preemptable jobs whenever something more pressing is not running. When a job is preempted, it can either be canceled, re-queued, suspended, or check pointed. Preemption can be enabled in three ways: by manual intervention, through QoS-based configuration, or through the use of the preemption-based backfill algorithm.
