If you want to use the short name you can either: 1. Ensure you have the proper domain in /etc/resolv.conf Or 2. Ensure the nodes are all listed in /etc/hosts
I prefer method 1 and run DNS on the head node. Hi all, It is well knows that the hostname can take different forms, say, FQDN and short hostname without dot in it. >From the "Maui Administrator's Guide", I can find the following notes: SERVERHOST This specifies where Maui will run. It allows Maui client commands to locate the Maui server. It must specify the fully qualified hostname of the machine on which Maui will run. (Example: SERVERHOST cw.psu.edu) So, it seems that SERVERHOST parameter used in the maui.cfg must take the fully qualified hostname/FQDN form. Furthermore, there are serveral other config files for which I must put the hostnames of head-node/compute-node in them, i.e., the following files: /var/spool/torque/server_name /var/spool/torque/server_priv/nodes /var/spool/torque/mom_priv/config For all of the above config files, should I use fully qualified hostname ( FQDN ) or short hostname without dot in them? Any hints on this issue?
