The very irresponsible behavior of XouldY and his friends can be used to
explain why the Mauritanian people managed to accept their current political
situation.
Politicians, analysts, and other concerned experts do not need to put
together highly sophisticated political theories to explain the political
disaster that has been unfolding before our own eyes since August 3, 2005. The
causes are all around us. Many Mauritanian intellectuals and a few military
leaders by rationalizing exploitation and corruption, have been
engaged in the total destruction of their own country. They are oppressing their
fellow countrymen in an appalling way.
XouldY, FLAM, and other extremists don't seem to understand that once we
combine the use of weapons with ignoring of the will of the people, no
power on earth can bring back the hope of the hopeless. Hopelessness in certain
situations, can stay for ever.
The state of democracy in Mauritania can be compared to any given species.
Once the species passes away, his/her surviving offspring can
carry on his species. But when a particular species becomes extinct, there are
no descendants left behind. Mauritanian Democracy is a disappearing species.
Those who are supposed to protect it, are making sure they kill it. If nothing
is done the nearing extinction of the most important endangered species in
our Western African country will surely reach the point of a full
extinction.
