Hmmm, that was supposed to be fixed in the VelocityViewServlet but it
looks like that never happened. I'll submit a patch to Geir.
In the mean time, you can safely pass parameters forwards by using
$request.setAttribute("title", "Foo")
You can still access this as $title in the subsequent template.

When playing with friendbook-velocity exmaple with Mav 2, I noticed the
$title reference is not being parsed correctly despite the variable
