So I was talking to a friend the other night about maverick. He was looking
for something very similar for a project he was working on (he needs to pipe
output through a number of transforms), and it seemed maverick might fit the
bill. The only catch--he needed to transform his stylesheets not only
through xsl, but he also needed to run them through a couple of perl
scripts. Anyway, I accepted the challenge. The result:

You'll need perl installed on on the system path for it to work, but I've
tested it in tomcat 4 on linux and win2k and it seems to run fine. There's a
friendbook-perl.war in there that you can test out. The download is about
1.1mb.
