You can do anything you want at that point; redirects, forwards, includes, writing 
directly to the output stream, anything.  You have the HttpServletResponse, abuse it 
at will :-)

Seriously, the null view type means you have complete control from your Controller.  
The framework doesn't do anything afterwards.

As far as the difference between a redirect and a forward - this is general web stuff. 
 A redirect can go anywhere, including to different websites, but causes a second HTTP 
request.  A forward must go to somewhere else within your webapp - but returns the 
data as a response to the original http request (and leaves the URL in the user's 
browser unchanged).
