You should be able to use just about any validation framework with Maverick. Take a look at the code for the various controller base classes that come with Maverick - there's no black magic.

Sourceforge tracks download statistics: http://sourceforge.net/project/stats/?group_id=26951 Maverick is not at risk of abandonment; this is one of the core tools I use to do my job. That said, it's worth noting that Maverick is a pretty mature product at this point - it's gone through two fairly major rewrites and it has a fairly limited scope (by design). I don't want to imply that the project is "done", but our philosophical goal is to keep it simple rather than to keep piling on features.
