Hello,
Installation depends upon the model of your computer. Since you are
looking at Yellow Dog and Suse, I assume that you are using a PowerMac
with Open Firmware, but even that is not enough information to go on. The
next big difference appears to be between New World (colourful, plastic
models), and Old World machines. (It is difficult to use a floppy boot
off most New World machines. ;-) Even then, there are bound to be
differences in the installation. If you have removable media (CD-R, or
Zip, or SuperDrive), that can be of assistance.
So, if you can tell us a bit about your machine, it is bound to solicit
more useful help.
In general, I prefer the Debian distribution since it is the easiest to
install problem machines (or Slackware but, AFAIK, that distro is not
available for the Mac). It is, however, slightly more difficult to
install software on. The other option is NetBSD, but some commercial
software (such as Navigator) is not available for it.
