You might want to check out <http://homepage.mac.com/macgurutemple/linux_for_mac4_distro_cmp.html>. It compares the various benefits of Debian, LinuxPPC, SuSE, and YellowDog on Mac hardware. There are also lots of good links and information. I know that there are also other distros are available for Mac. I think Mandrake is now available for Mac.
As someone else mentioned, if you have an 80mhz PowerMac it's most likely Nubus. The only Linux distro that is supported on Nubus Macs is MkLinux. See <http://www.mklinux.org/> for info. I've run Debian briefly on a 68k Mac and it worked well. I've tried to install YellowDog on several machines but have become fed up with it each time. Also, don't forget about NetBSD... it's very popular with some people on this list. :) I keep meaning to install it on one of my machines but never seem to get around to it. Also, BeOS isn't really a *nix, but it's a darn fine OS if I do say so myself, so you might want to consider that, too! :) Amber On 8/13/02 10:44 AM, Steve Vaught at <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I am curious about linux on ppc.
