Get yourself a distro (like YDL) on CD and just go to it.  Install notes should be 
included.  You can probably find them on the web too.  The StarMax will require a 
partition with MacOS installed to "bootstrap" with, so you'll need to know how to 
partition your hard drive.  Partitioning is the hardest part, and it's not bad.  I 
loaded YDL 2.1 onto a clone myself and didn't have any major problems.  I used to have 
a page online detailing my experiences, but my site was recently taken down.
