Well, but anyway could you explain this "direct-linux-boot" method? Would it
work on NuBus machines?

I googled for "miBoot" and "miBoot howto".

I have no idea if this will work on NuBus, I gave up on those as too slow for my purposes over a year ago.
Note it still needs a HFS partition.


My idea of slow has changed over the years, my first Linux machine was a 486 50 MHz running Slackware 3.0 (kernel 1.2).

604 132 MHz are also too slow now, my two current 604 300 MHz are on the edge of being too slow.
I expect to replace them with B & W G3 300 MHz (or HP DL140's, the dark side) during calendar year 2004.
My P3 300 MHz machine is also dipping into the too slow category.


And yes, NetBSD may be faster on those ;)
But I have invested a lot with _others_ here learning Linux, I'm not going to throw something different at them.
