What I'm basically asking then is: A)Is it possible to setup the dual boot
paramaters without having the second drive?
No, you need a bootable drive first.
It sounds like the physical areas of the 2 GB drive are not capable of holding the information a Mac needs to boot.
You can have Linux reside on that drive, but you won't be able to boot from it.
B)Should I partition the 2gig in any special manner before install?
Personal preference. I would put the swap partition on the other drive, if possible. 2 GB is getting tight for a modern Linux install.
The standard Desktop Fedora Core 1 install I did today was 1.6 GB.
