I didn't notice any PowerDomain Control software for Linux on Adaptec's website; don't really know if it's actually needed for performance tweaks.

You might be able to pass parameters to the kernel module ( driver ) via /etc/modules.conf to accomplish your needs. Check for a README or some other doc included in the module source. Sometimes that info is available online so you don't have to install the source to access it. Sometimes the actual source code for the module is well commented, and that "documents" what the possible parameters are and possible values. Some values can only be changed in the source ( which means you have to recompile the module ).

With a 9600, you generally have to boot into Mac OS before BootX swings the boot into Linux. That means you need a bootable MacOS partition. You can use PowerDomain tools when booted into that MacOS partition, then reboot to Linux.

Putting YDL 3.0 and/or BeOS on a 9600/200MP would be an interesting project, methinks. I've been toying with the idea of using one of the G3 upgrade cards I already have, but I'm much more intrigued by the MP possibilities.

Check to see if both processors are actually used, I seem to remember that with certain models only one of the two processors was seen by the kernel. You may be lucky.
