Hello Can you guys recomend the best settings for my DB? I am running dual XEON 1.8Ghz with 512MB RAM (Adding 1GB RAM soon) There are 2 SCSI Hard Disks On average, I would guess the maximum data inserted would be around 20MB everyday Mainly would like to know how many devspace, data size, log size, whether to use pages or KB etc.. Thanks
2 disks -> 2 volumes, one for DATA one for LOG 512MB ram = 65,536 pages, leave RAM available for OS and helper applications -> 50,000 pages CACHE_SIZE, resize to 100,000-110,000 pages after RAM upgrade. dual CPU -> MAXCPU=2 20MB per day -> 7GB per year, add xGB for secondary indices and temporary result sets ... disk space is inexpensive
