I have encountered a truly strange problem:

dbmcli on TST74>param_getdevsall
OK
LOG_MIRRORED NO
MAXARCHIVELOGS 32
MAXDATADEVSPACES 32
ARCHIVE_LOG_001 1024 F /home/sapdb/TST74/DISKL001
DATADEV_0001 2560 F /home/sapdb/TST74/DISKD0001
DATADEV_0002 128000 F /home/sapdb/TST74/DISKD0002
DATADEV_0003 12800 F /home/sapdb/TST74/DISKD0003

param_getdevsall is telling me that MAXARCHIVELOGS is 32 - even the Database Manager is already showing me a long list of icons telling me that I can add log spaces now. However, when I try to add one the system keeps telling me that there are too many devspaces.
Can anybody tell me why? I have bumped both values - MAXDATADEVSPACES as well as MAXARCHIVELOGS

I am using:

dbmcli on TST74>version
OK
version,os,dbroot,logon,code,swap
"7.4.3","UNIX","/opt/sapdb/depend74",False,ASCII,2

RPM version: 7.4.3.17-1 on RedHat 9.0

The interesting thing is that I have encountered an error like that for the first time. I remember doing one thing differently this time: I have tried to set both parameters to an extremely high value (> 1000) but of course this does not work. Since then I cannot define new ARCHIVELOGS. Can anybody help me? What have I done wrong?

        Regards,

                Hans
