Hello Kevin,

the log volume is specified as a parameter during installation. If you use DBMGUI make
sure you don't use an installation template to see all steps during an installation.

As you can restore a backup to another database, you can indeed use a migration backup
to change the log volume name. You could also try to just copy the log volume to the
new location and change the database parameter containing the name of the log volume
accordingly.

Subject: Setting log file location using DBMGUI (on restore and
migration too)

In the DBMGUI I failed to see where one could specify the path of the log
file:
        a) when creating a new instance
        b) doing an instance restoration

I have an instance that has the log file in the same folder as the data file
but I need to have this on another disk to improve disk I/O. Can I do a
migration backup and upon restore of that backup specify the new log file (&
data file) location(s)? Or does a migration backup restore itself into an
existing instance that is already setup and defined?
